Anyone knows how to work out the 1.) problem in the Limiting Reagents worksheet?

Chemistry final tomorrow... God save us all...

Yep I do Very Happy

First, from what is said on the paper, we can come up with this reaction:

CH4 + 2O2 => CO2 + 2H2O

CH4 has a mass of 6.50 g
O2 has a mass of 15.9 g

0.406 mol CH4
0.49 mol O2

ratio: 0.406 : 0.49
1 : 2

so 0.406 : 0.24
1 : 1

so we need to use the mole from O2 since the reaction will stop when the limiting reagent (O2) has ended. Thus, we will know the maximum mass of CO2 that can be produced in this reaction.

Molar mass of CO2: 44 g/mol

44 g/mol multiplied by 0.24 mol = 10.56 g
