Answer the following question in a paragraph or two. Be complete with your answers. These will be graded as a quiz. You may use Howard Zinn, Ch 18 on Vietnam and Ch30 of your textbook. (These three questions are worth 25 pts each)

1. Why did so many Vietnamese not support the nationalist leader Ngo Dinh Diem?

2. Explain events surrounding the election of 1968 and other chaotic events during that year and how these allowed Richard Nixon to win the White House with his “silent majority.”

3. What were some of the legacies of Vietnam for the United States? Think human toll, political, economic costs, lessons learned, etc.

Come up with 2 thoughtful questions you would like to ask Mr. Klumpp about his experience in Vietnam or the war in general, US policy, legacies of Vietnam, lingering effects, etc.
